Bosnia and Herzegovina's RTGS system settled 1,868,624 transactions worth KM 169,253,892,737 in 2025. Those payments represented 3.35% of the transactions processed through the central bank's two payment systems. They accounted for 85.79% of the total value. The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina published the figures in its Payment Systems in BH in 2025 report, dated 30 March 2026.

The Giro Clearing system handled the remaining 53,896,095 transactions worth KM 28,026,963,422. Giro Clearing is the interbank clearing system for transactions of KM 10,000 or less. RTGS is used for transactions above KM 10,000, with optional use for lower amounts. Combined traffic across both systems reached 55,764,719 transactions worth KM 197,280,856,159.

RTGS volume has risen in each of the past five years, according to the report's annual series. RTGS settled 1,706,358 transactions in 2024. The 2025 count is therefore about 9.5% higher. RTGS value in 2024 was KM 157,141,223,137. Value grew about 7.7% in 2025 on that basis.

Concentration eased slightly. The ten largest banks originated 77.73% of interbank transactions across both systems in 2025, down from 78.02% in 2024. Banks sent 52.46% of RTGS orders before 12:00 in 2025, up from 51.41% in 2024.

The CBBH also operates the IPS BiH instant payment system. The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina was one of the first two institutions to join Banca d'Italia's TIPS Clone platform, which went live on 20 July 2026. A second onboarding window for the central banks of Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia is scheduled for November 2026.
