CBI S.c.p.a. extended its Request to Pay service to Italian corporate clients on 17 June 2026. The service, built on EBA Clearing and Nexi Group infrastructure, allows businesses to issue structured digital payment requests to counterparties through enterprise resource planning and treasury management systems. Payments authorised by the debtor settle as standard SEPA Credit Transfers.

Request to Pay is a messaging overlay defined by the European Payments Council under the SEPA Request to Pay scheme. The creditor sends a request containing transaction details, and the debtor authorises the resulting SEPA Credit Transfer through their payment service provider.

CBI had previously deployed the service for public administration bill payments through integration with PagoPA. The corporate extension brings structured payment request functionality to business-to-business invoicing across the Italian banking network.
