Colombia's high-value payment system, the CUD, settled an average of COP 109.57 trillion per day in 2025, according to Banco de la República. That daily average was 19.5% higher than in 2024. The average number of operations fell 14.89% over the same period, to 6,290 a day.
Across the full year, the value settled through the CUD equalled 14.4 times Colombia's 2025 GDP. On a daily basis, settlement averaged about 5.91% of GDP, compared with 5.38% in 2024. Dividing value by operations puts the average CUD payment at roughly COP 17.4 billion in 2025.
Banco de la República attributes the higher settled value mainly to activity in the public debt market, monetary policy operations and direct fund transfers between entities. The central bank ties the shift to changed liquidity conditions in the money market, with more simultaneous operations and more use of its contraction window. Once accepted, Bre-B instant transfers settle gross in real time in central bank money through the CUD, via the MOL mechanism.
