The European Payments Council made its Verification of Payee API Reference Toolbox v1.1 available to all participants on 7 May 2026. The platform, developed in collaboration with StreamMind, provides payment service providers and routing and verification mechanisms with a dedicated environment for testing compliance with the VoP inter-PSP API specifications.
The VoP scheme was initially deployed on 5 October 2025. Several inconsistencies in the original specifications were identified after deployment, prompting the EPC to conduct a public consultation on urgent change requests. The resulting v1.1 rulebook was published on 16 March 2026. Version 1.1 of the VoP scheme rulebook, API specification, and API Security Framework takes effect on 20 September 2026.
The EPC opened a public consultation on VoP v2.0 change requests on 1 April 2026, running through 30 June 2026. The overlap between v1.1 implementation and v2.0 development suggests PSPs will face continuous compliance work rather than a single fixed endpoint.
