Kazakhstan's Interbank System of Money Transfers processed 35.76 million transactions in 2025. Total settlement value reached KZT 1,539 trillion for the year. The RTGS system averaged approximately 143,600 transactions per day at an average transaction size of KZT 43 million.

The National Payment Corporation operates the ISMT under the National Bank of Kazakhstan. NPC was established in July 2023 through the reorganization of the Kazakhstan Interbank Settlement Center, which had operated the ISMT since 1996. The system serves 33 participants including the National Bank, the Treasury, 23 second-tier banks, KASE, the Central Securities Depository, and Kazpost. Settlement operates from 09:00 to 20:00 local time using SWIFT MT message formats.

In the first five months of 2026, ISMT processed 14.18 million transactions worth KZT 593 trillion, averaging approximately 136,400 daily settlements. The NPC launched an interbank QR payment service in September 2025 through partner bank mobile applications. Kazakhstan also operates a separate Instant Payment System launched in June 2022, complementing the large-value ISMT infrastructure.
