NPCI International Payments Limited launched UPI acceptance in Cambodia on June 2, 2026. Indian travelers can now make payments at more than 4.5 million KHQR merchant outlets across the country using any UPI-enabled app. The bilateral linkage was inaugurated in Phnom Penh through a partnership with ACLEDA Bank Plc under the supervision of the Reserve Bank of India and the National Bank of Cambodia.

Cambodia joins UPI's international merchant acceptance network alongside Singapore, UAE, France, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Mauritius, Qatar, and Japan. A subsequent phase will enable Cambodian travelers to pay at UPI QR-enabled merchants across India using domestic banking apps.

UPI cross-border transactions reached 1.48 million in FY2025-26 worth Rs 330.43 crore. The figure nearly doubled from 0.75 million transactions worth Rs 258.53 crore in FY2024-25.
