Banca Intesa a.d. Beograd confirmed it began sending and receiving SEPA Credit Transfers on 5 May 2026. The European Payments Council had designated this date as the Earliest Operational Readiness Date for Serbian payment service providers. Eighteen banks in total joined the scheme.
Serbia became the 41st country admitted to the SEPA geographical scope in 2025. Serbian PSPs access the system as indirect participants through parent institutions already connected to European clearing mechanisms.
Banca Intesa routes SEPA transactions through its parent Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A. Additional Serbian banks that have not yet completed technical onboarding are expected to achieve operational readiness during 2026.
