Sweden's Bankgiro and Plusgiro Payment Migration Window Opens on 8 September

Swedbank ended support for legacy Bankgiro file formats on 1 September 2026, with Autogiro exempt.

Swedish banks will move Bankgiro and Plusgiro payments to the new ISO 20022 clearing infrastructure between 8 September and 27 November 2026, according to Danske Bank's client instructions for the Swedish market.

Beneficiary names become mandatory in Bankgiro and Plusgiro payment files from 8 September 2026.

Bankgirot's stated goal is that all payments except Autogiro will have moved to its SEK Credit Transfer product by the end of 2026.
