Transaction volume on India's Unified Payments Interface reached 241.6 billion in FY 2025-26. The system completed ten years of operation on April 11, 2026. Daily transaction volume now averages over 660 million, up from 20 million transactions in the system's entire first year.

The number of banks live on UPI grew from 44 at launch to 703 by FY 2025-26. Person-to-merchant payments account for 63% of transaction volume.

The IMF has recognized UPI as the world's largest real-time payment system by transaction volume. UPI accounted for nearly 49% of global real-time payment volume in 2024.
