UPI marks its tenth anniversary on April 11, 2026. The system processed 218.98 billion transactions worth approximately Rs 285 lakh crore during FY26. Transaction volume has grown 12,000-fold from the 17.86 million transactions recorded in FY17.
FY26 volumes represented an 18 percent increase over FY25's 185.87 billion transactions. Merchant acceptance infrastructure expanded to 731.38 million UPI QR codes in 2025, a 15 percent year-on-year increase.
NPCI International has signed agreements for UPI merchant acceptance in Malaysia and Israel, with both corridors expected to go live later in 2026.
