Adyen activated its direct connection to France's Cartes Bancaires network and STET clearing infrastructure on April 1, 2026. The company's servers are now connected to the CB network without intermediaries, giving Adyen end-to-end control of the transaction processing chain for French card payments. Adyen holds principal member status in Groupement des Cartes Bancaires.
Bolt became the first merchant to route French card transactions through Adyen's direct CB connection. CB handles 15 billion card transactions annually across 77 million cards in circulation. The network generates approximately EUR 700 billion in annual transaction volume.
CB Director General Philippe Laulanie described the partnership as aligned on security, innovation, and economic efficiency. CB has set a target of 100 million cards and EUR 1 trillion in annual transaction volume by 2030. Mobile payments on the CB network doubled in 2025.
