April 9, 2026 marked the first reporting deadline under the EU Instant Payments Regulation. All eurozone payment service providers were required to submit annual reports to their national competent authorities detailing instant payment volumes, fees charged, and transactions rejected due to sanctions screening or compliance checks.

The inaugural report covers the retrospective period from October 26, 2022 to December 31, 2022. The deadline was originally set for April 2025, but the EBA extended it by 12 months after acknowledging that PSPs needed additional time to align with the XBRL-csv reporting templates and validation rules.

Only 33 percent of PSPs reported being fully prepared for the submission. Another 41 percent indicated readiness with limitations. National competent authorities must forward aggregated data to the EBA and European Commission by October 2026.
