Germany has approximately seven million registered Wero users as of March 2026, according to EPI's Chris Scheuermann. France reports approximately 16 million active users. Belgium and Germany are the two Wero markets with both P2P and e-commerce payments live as of April 2026. France's e-commerce launch has shifted to September 2026 from the original H1 2026 target.
The Netherlands completed its mandatory iDEAL-to-Wero co-branding phase on March 31, 2026, with backend routing migration pending DNB approval. Luxembourg's standalone Wero app is targeted for mid-2026, with Payconiq scheduled for definitive phase-out from October 2026.
