Bulk Electronic Clearing System - Australia's ACH operated by Australian Payments Network (AusPayNet). Processes direct entry credits (payroll, supplier payments) and direct debits. In 2024, BECS facilitated 3.5 billion payments worth AUD 17.4 trillion, representing almost 90% of retail A2A payment value in Australia. AusPayNet removed the 2030 target decommissioning date in 2025 after the RBA's risk assessment found insufficient industry coordination and no shared vision for A2A payment migration. Being gradually complemented by NPP for some use cases. Three-day settlement cycle.
