Record · Kazakhstan IPS
The National Bank of Kazakhstan placed the Instant Payment System into operation on 20 June 2022, providing interbank transfers around the clock. The rollout was structured in two stages: person-to-person transfers by phone number first, followed by QR code payments and merchant acceptance. At commissioning nine second-tier banks had signed participation agreements, four of which had already opened access to their clients, with the remaining Kazakhstani banks connecting on an agreed schedule.
