Swedish banks began migrating account-based credit transfers to the new clearing infrastructure on 14 April 2026. Phase 1 covers all payments between bank accounts, with participant banks expected to complete the transition by 25 June 2026.
Beneficiary name is now a mandatory field in all payment files submitted through the new system. The migration replaces Bankgirot's legacy LB and Bg Max file formats with ISO 20022 XML, routing payments through each participant bank rather than directly to Bankgirot.
Phase 2, covering Bankgiro and Plusgiro alias payments, is scheduled for 8 September to 27 November 2026. The new system processes payments across 10 clearing windows, with banks free to determine submission timing within each window.
