Every payment service provider offering credit transfers within SEPA must file its first Instant Payments Regulation report with its national competent authority by 9 April 2026. The filing requires data on instant payment volumes, service availability, pricing, and rejection rates. Reports will follow an annual cycle on the same date going forward.
The EBA postponed the original deadline by twelve months after late publication of the final reporting templates. PSPs needed additional time to align on common definitions and adopt standardized reporting templates across 41 SEPA countries.
Euro-area PSPs have been required to receive instant credit transfers since 9 January 2025. The obligation to send instant credit transfers took effect on 9 October 2025. Verification of Payee services became mandatory on the same October date for euro-area providers. Non-euro SEPA member states must offer instant payment receiving capability by 9 January 2027. The sending and VOP obligations for non-euro states apply from 9 July 2027.
