CoDi processed 4.4 million operations during 2025, according to Banco de México figures reported by El Economista. Cumulative CoDi operations reached almost 19 million at the end of 2025. DiMo, the mobile-number transfer overlay, recorded 3.1 million operations in 2025. Both totals are small fractions of activity on SPEI, the real-time rail that carries CoDi and DiMo payments.
The gap between enrolment and use defines both schemes. DiMo counted 16.4 million registered users at the end of 2025. That is roughly one operation for every five registered users over the year. CoDi was offered by 32 SPEI participants at the end of 2025. Banxico reported that inter-institution DiMo transaction volume grew steadily through 2025.
Banxico published Circular 9/2026 together with mobile transfer guidelines requiring banks and indirect SPEI participants to standardize the flows for SPEI transfers, DiMo, CoDi and QR payments. Banks and indirect participants must comply by 14 December 2026.
The circular targets interface design rather than pricing or merchant acceptance. Banxico's operation counts for 2026 will cover the period before the December compliance date takes effect.
