NPCI International Payments Limited signed a commercial agreement with the National Interbank Processing Centre JSC, the operator of Uzbekistan's national payment system HUMO, on August 30, 2026.

The Reserve Bank of India and the Central Bank of Uzbekistan approved the arrangement before signing, with the Uzbek central bank designating HUMO as NIPL's authorised partner for cross-border merchant acceptance.

Under the partnership, Indian tourists, business travellers and students will make person-to-merchant payments from their Indian bank accounts by scanning Uzbekistan's Unified National QR code, UZQR, with their existing UPI apps.
