Canada's Finance Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne will deliver a keynote at the Payments Canada Summit on May 6 in Toronto. He will appear in a fireside chat with Payments Canada CEO Susan Hawkins. The government has framed the Real-Time Rail as 'a critical engine for national productivity.'
Payments Canada appointed Patrick Boudreau as Vice President, Fraud and Financial Crimes, effective April 30. The RTR entered performance, security, and resilience testing in Q1 2026.
The summit runs May 5-7 with over 2,000 registered attendees from more than 320 organizations. Payments Canada targets a 2026 go-live for the RTR.
