PIX processed 42.9 billion transactions in the second half of 2025. The instant payment system represented 54.7 percent of all retail payment transactions in Brazil, according to the Banco Central do Brasil's semiannual retail payment statistics published April 7.
Transaction volumes grew 24.3 percent year-over-year. The average PIX transaction reached R$ 456, a 7 percent annual increase.
PIX captured 28.6 percent of total financial value in the period, behind TED's 34.7 percent share. Full-year 2025 PIX transactions totaled 79.8 billion as the system approaches the April 22 mandatory deadline for all participating institutions to offer contactless NFC payments.
