PIX accounted for 34% of Brazil's point-of-sale transaction value in 2025, according to Worldpay's Global Payments Report published March 31. The report also records PIX at 42% of e-commerce value, based on payment method share data from 42 markets.
The POS figure marks a new threshold for real-time payment systems at physical retail. PIX's share has been built through QR code payments at merchant terminals rather than contactless NFC, which processed 1.06 million transactions in January 2026 against more than 6 billion for PIX overall that month. EBANX projects PIX will reach 45% of Brazilian online sales by end 2026.
Worldpay confirms PIX cross-border acceptance now extends to Argentina, Chile, Portugal, Spain, and the United States through fintech partnerships with local acquirers.
