Pakistan's Raast instant payment system crossed Rs 50 trillion in cumulative processed value in May 2026, according to State Bank of Pakistan data. The milestone reflects rapid acceleration: Raast processed nearly two billion transactions across the full year 2025.
The October-December 2025 quarter recorded 645.7 million transactions worth Rs 18.5 trillion. Person-to-person transfers dominated at 603 million transactions (Rs 15.7 trillion), while merchant payments reached 33.6 million transactions (Rs 167.6 billion). Government and corporate bulk payments through Raast processed over 9 million transactions worth Rs 2.6 trillion, a channel the SBP plans to expand by routing all government payments through Raast by the end of fiscal year 2026.
Raast's registered user base has reached 48 million individuals. Digital channels now handle 92 percent of Pakistan's retail payments, with mobile applications controlling 81 percent of digital payment volume. The SBP's mandate to channel government disbursements through Raast will add substantial recurring volume to the system as the June 2026 fiscal year deadline approaches.
