UPI Averaged Rs 1,01,707 Crore a Day in October, Its First Month Above Rs 1 Lakh Crore

Value cleared in the month totalled Rs 31.53 lakh crore across India's leading retail rail. IMPS, the older NPCI instant rail, handled 375 million transactions in the same month, 7 per cent fewer than a year earlier.

NPCI data released on 1 November 2026 show UPI processed 25.47 billion transactions in October 2026. Transaction value for the month was Rs 31.53 lakh crore. UPI averaged Rs 1,01,707 crore a day, its first month above Rs 1 lakh crore in average daily value.

Average daily transaction counts rose to 822 million in October from 802 million in September. IMPS recorded 375 million transactions in October 2026. That count was 7 per cent below October 2025, while IMPS value rose 19 per cent year on year to Rs 7.63 lakh crore. Against September, IMPS volume rose from 354 million.

Directions issued by the Reserve Bank of India on 21 April 2026 (RBI/CO.DPSS.POLC.No.S56/02.14.003/2026-27), effective immediately. They consolidate the RBI's circulars on e-mandates and apply to all payment system providers and participants processing recurring transactions, domestic or cross-border, using cards, PPIs or UPI. Recurring transactions may be authorised without an additional factor of authentication (AFA) up to ₹15,000 per transaction, or ₹1,00,000 for insurance premiums, mutual fund subscriptions and credit card bill payments; issuers must send a pre-transaction notification at least 24 hours before the debit (not required for e-mandates that auto-replenish FASTag and NCMC balances). The Directions repeal the earlier circulars, including the circular of 10 January 2020 on e-mandates in UPI.
