What changed: Resolução BCB nº 1 of 12 August 2020 (published in the Diário Oficial da União on 13 August 2020) instituted the Pix payment arrangement and approved its Regulation; the Banco Central do Brasil publishes a consolidated text that incorporates the amending resolutions. The most recent, Resolução BCB nº 597 of 30 September 2026 (DOU of 2 October 2026), applies from its publication and adds a prohibition on processing, settling or enabling transactions for fixed-odds betting lotteries referred to in article 14 of Medida Provisória nº 1.394 of 25 September 2026, except for transactions needed to wind down operations and refund bettors. Resolução BCB nº 587 of 18 September 2026 (DOU of 21 September 2026) applies partly from its publication, partly from 1 February 2027 (including the hybrid charge, cobrança híbrida, in article 11-AA) and partly from 1 July 2027.
