The All India Consumer Products Distributors Federation and the All India Mobile Retailers Association withdrew their 'No UPI Day' protest, called for 2 October, on the same day as the delegation's meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi. Delegation leader Praveen Khandelwal said the protest call had been withdrawn after the government assured the delegation that the trading community's concerns would receive due consideration. The merchant discount rate they object to is 0.4 per cent on specified person-to-merchant UPI transactions above Rs 2,000, capped at Rs 300 for transactions of Rs 75,000 and above.
The rate is scheduled to come into force on 15 October.
