Groupe BPCE completed the first Wero e-commerce transactions in France on April 20, 2026. France is the third European market for Wero online payments after Germany and Belgium. BPCE will activate the service for 500,000 Banque Populaire and Caisse d'Epargne customers from early May.

Launch merchants accepting Wero include the Ecole du Ski Francais, Orange, Sosh, Veepee, and DPD. SNCF is preparing its Wero checkout integration for the coming weeks. The payment method uses account-to-account instant transfers settled via the SEPA Instant network.

EPI CEO Martina Weimert confirmed Wero now serves 53 million users across Europe. All 13 million BPCE online banking users are targeted for access by summer 2026.
