Bank Indonesia and the People's Bank of China activated a bilateral QR payment corridor on May 1. The linkage connects Indonesia's QRIS network with China's Alipay and UnionPay QR payment systems. Chinese travelers can now pay at more than 40 million QRIS merchants across Indonesia.

Indonesian users gained reciprocal access to over 80 million QR payment points in China. Settlement uses a direct IDR/CNY mechanism that bypasses the US dollar. Ant International's Alipay+ platform provides the cross-border connectivity infrastructure.

The corridor extends Indonesia's existing cross-border QR network that already connects with Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.
