Eighteen payment service providers in Serbia began processing SEPA Credit Transfer and SEPA Direct Debit transactions on May 5, 2026. The European Commission estimated the integration will reduce cross-border transaction costs by up to EUR 400 million.
Serbia is the fifth country to join SEPA payment schemes since the expansion of the geographical scope began in November 2024. The go-live brings total SEPA coverage to 41 countries and territories.
Serbian PSPs are not subject to the EU Instant Payments Regulation's SCT Inst sending and receiving mandates, which apply exclusively to EU and EEA member states.
