KIR processed 636.08 million Express Elixir instant transfers worth PLN 320.58 billion in 2025. Both volume and value grew 21 percent over 2024. The batch Elixir system handled 2.24 billion transactions totalling PLN 9.57 trillion. Batch value rose 5 percent year-on-year.
Early 2026 data shows the divergence intensifying. Express Elixir posted double-digit year-on-year growth in every month from January through April. April volume reached 57.49 million transactions, a 10 percent increase from April 2025. Value growth outpaced volume at 16 percent in April. Rising average transaction sizes suggest higher-value use cases are migrating to instant rails.
Batch Elixir Q1 2026 volumes fell 1 percent year-on-year to 555.23 million transactions. Value edged up 1 percent to PLN 2.32 trillion. The pattern extends beyond Poland. STEP2 SCT credit transfer volumes fell 5.5 percent year-on-year in April 2026. Bankgirot reported a 7.9 percent volume drop in February 2026.
