BGL BNP Paribas, BIL, Banque Raiffeisen, and Spuerkeess began offering Wero to their Luxembourg customers at the end of June 2026. Luxembourg is the fourth country to launch the European digital payment wallet after Germany, France, and Belgium. Post Luxembourg will follow during the summer, with Banque de Luxembourg joining at a later stage.
Payconiq and Wero will run in parallel from July through September 2026, giving businesses and consumers time to complete the transition. From October 2026, Payconiq will be permanently phased out and Wero will become the sole mobile payment solution in the market.
Luxembourg users can send and receive money via phone number or email, generate personal QR codes, and pay invoices through the app. E-commerce and in-store QR-code payments are available from launch, in contrast to the staged feature rollouts in Germany, Belgium, and France.
