Groupe BPCE processed the first Wero e-commerce transaction in France on April 20, 2026. Customers from Banque Populaire and Caisse d'Epargne completed purchases through Payplug, the first French payment service provider to enable Wero merchant acceptance. BPCE began rolling out access to 500,000 customers in early May. All 13 million BPCE online banking customers are expected to gain access over summer.

Germany has been live since November 2025, when Sparkassen and Volksbanken/Raiffeisenbanken launched Wero e-commerce. ING Germany added e-commerce capability on June 3, 2026. Approximately 600,000 of its customers have activated Wero, representing a 15 percent activation rate among current account holders. Belgium went live in March 2026 through ING, KBC, and BNP Paribas Fortis.

Current Wero merchants include Eventim in Germany and ESF in France. IKEA Deutschland and Lidl are confirmed as forthcoming acceptance points. EPI has targeted end of 2026 for full omnichannel coverage including in-store NFC payments.
