Banco Central do Brasil's monthly payment statistics show 8.11 billion Pix transactions in August 2026, up from 7.98 billion in July. It is the first month above 8 billion and the highest monthly count in a series that starts in November 2020. The August count averages about 262 million transactions a day.
The value transferred fell. August's R$3.73 trillion was below July's R$3.80 trillion. Against August 2025, the count rose 16.4 percent and the value 23.1 percent.
The figures come from the central bank's payment-instrument statistics, which for Pix draw on the SPI and on information reported by participants and are updated 17 days after the end of the reference month. The series counts Pix settled both in the SPI and outside it, including returns, so it is a broader count than Pix settled in the SPI alone. The central bank notes that data for transactions settled outside the SPI can be revised retroactively. Brazilian outlets reported the August figure on 28 September 2026, citing central bank data.
