PIX transactions at point-of-sale terminals grew 54% in 2025. Credit card transactions at POS grew 8%. Debit card payments at POS fell 4%. The data comes from Febraban's Banking Technology Research 2026, released on June 26, which surveyed 25 banks covering 85% of Brazil's banking assets.

In digital channels, PIX processed 30.1 billion transactions in 2025, a 20% increase over the prior year. Physical channel PIX transactions totaled 2.1 billion with 61% annual growth.

Febraban innovation director Ivo Mósca said the data shows direct competition between PIX and debit cards in Brazil. Mobile banking alone accounted for 78% of all banking transactions in 2025.
