Riksbank Payments Report 2026 (published March 12, 2026): warns Swedish banks to offer instant payment services by March 2027 or face legislation. As of March 2026, only two smaller banks send instant payments daily via RIX-INST. No Swedish company can make instant B2B payments. Riksbank deadline: by March 2027, banks must offer instant services or present credible plan, otherwise legislation in line with EU Instant Payments Regulation. Riksbank SME survey: 56% of businesses consider immediate payment arrival fairly or very important. TIPS Cross-Currency (TIPS X-CCY) launched October 2025 as technically available service for Riksbank via TIPS platform; updated Terms & Conditions targeted to enter into force by end of June 2026.
