The UAE is building a comprehensive payments infrastructure: UAEFTS (RTGS), Aani (instant payments, 2023), UAESWITCH (card switch), and the Instant Payments Platform (IPP). All operated by Al Etihad Payments (AEP) under CBUAE. UAE also participates in AFAQ (GCC cross-border) and BUNA (Arab regional). UAE joined AFAQ in December 2023.
