PPRO launched the Local Payments Council for Agentic Commerce in October 2026 with EPI, BLIK, Bancontact Company and DIAS as founding members. The council will develop common technical standards for agent identity, delegated consent, authorisation, disputes, refunds and payment method discoverability. PPRO said further payment schemes have committed to join.

The council has set five work areas: out-of-band authorisation and session hand-off, agent identity and attestation for non-card rails, consent and mandates and delegated authority, disputes and refunds and liability, and discoverability and agent-surface eligibility.

EPI announced its nexo standards membership in early October 2026, aligning Wero acceptance with the ISO 20022-based specifications used by payment acceptance systems ahead of the in-store payment rollout across markets in 2027.
