Lidl integrated Wero as a payment option on its German online shop on July 24, 2026. The discount retailer became the first food chain in Germany to accept the European account-to-account payment method for e-commerce transactions.

Over 56 million bank customers across Europe have activated the Wero function in their banking apps. Wero routes payments through the SEPA Instant Credit Transfer infrastructure, settling directly from the payer's current account in seconds.

Lidl and EPI plan to extend Wero acceptance to the retailer's online shops in Belgium and France later in 2026. Decathlon Germany also activated Wero on decathlon.de on July 20.
