Sparda-Bank Südwest, a cooperative lender with more than 400,000 members in Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, said on 4 November 2026 that its customers can use Wero directly in the SpardaBanking app. No separate balance or standalone Wero app is required, and payments run directly from the current account. The bank cited figures from the European Payments Initiative of around ten million registered Wero users in Germany.
Wero has been usable in German online retail since the end of 2025 and is now accepted there by more than 4,000 merchants, the bank said. Wero is to become usable at German checkouts progressively from 2027, the bank said.
