Notes

On the 28 September 2026 check the RT1 statistics page still carried July 2026 as its most recent published month, the second consecutive check with August unreported and roughly four weeks after the month closed. The earlier contrast with EURO1 no longer holds: the EURO1 statistics page also ends at July 2026, so both EBA Clearing services are now equally behind rather than RT1 alone. EBA Clearing gives no reason for the delay and has published no news item since 17 June 2026. The published July daily average differs from June's by only 50 transactions and carries the same rounded daily value, a pattern that may reflect a publication error and that EBA Clearing has not explained. The RT1 system overview page continues to advertise participant and peak-day figures that the operator's own statistics page and participant list contradict. EBA Clearing has published no news item since 17 June 2026.

Easter 2026 Tests Post-Mandate Instant Payment Capacity as TARGET Closes for Four Days
TARGET T2, EURO1, and STEP2-T will close for Good Friday and Easter Monday on April 3 and 6, while RT1 and TIPS continue 24/7 instant settlement through the four-day window at their current combined rate of over 10 million daily transactions. RT1 Daily Settlement Values Triple Through 2025 as Instant Payments Shift Toward Corporate Use
EBA Clearing statistics reveal that RT1 average daily settlement values rose from 2.4 billion euros in January 2025 to 7 billion euros in December 2025, a 192 percent increase that far outpaced the 67 percent growth in transaction volumes over the same period. The October 2025 inflection point, when the IPR sending mandate and SCT Inst maximum amount increase took effect simultaneously, marks the moment instant payments began moving from a predominantly consumer channel to a corporate payment rail.
