PIX users across eight major Brazilian banks reported transfer and payment failures on May 27, 2026. Downdetector registered 1,766 complaint reports within hours. Scattered reports began around 8:00 AM Brasilia time, with complaints escalating sharply from 11:15 AM and peaking near 1:00 PM.
Nubank, Caixa Economica Federal, Bradesco, Banco do Brasil, Itau, Santander, C6 Bank, and Banco Inter were all affected. Users reported transactions stuck in processing indefinitely and generic error messages without resolution timelines.
Nubank was the only institution to publicly acknowledge the instability and confirm resolution. The Banco Central do Brasil had not issued a formal statement on the cause as of May 28. The incident is the eleventh PIX service disruption of 2026.
