Paulo places Pix in a pre-investigation phase covering legal, technical, security and operational issues, expected to wrap up in September 2026. The reported sequence then runs exploration from October 2026 to March 2027, a possible implementation phase from April 2027 to June 2028, and an operational pilot pencilled in for June 2028. The Central Bank of Brazil declined to comment.

Instrução Normativa BCB nº 766 raises from 30 to 80 days the window in which the recipient of a Pix can contest a return carried out through the Mecanismo Especial de Devolução (MED), counted from the date of the return. The change targets merchants, service providers and small businesses that receive a legitimate Pix and then lose the funds to a fraudulent MED claim opened by the payer. The 80-day window for a defrauded payer to open a MED claim, counted from the original transaction, is unchanged.

CADE unanimously homologates TCC (settlement) with Apple over iOS App Store/IAP anticompetitive practices. Apple must allow alternative in-app payment methods alongside IAP, permit developers to direct users to external transactions, and enable alternative app distribution channels within 105 days (~April 7, 2026). Non-compliance penalty up to R$150M. Agreement lasts three years. IMPORTANT: this TCC does NOT cover NFC access or PIX por Aproximacao.
